"Medusa" spoke about the problems of money at Channel One after the annexation of Crimea

The Russian Channel One accumulates debts after the events of 2014 in Ukraine. The reduction of international advertisers and the fall of the ruble led to the fact that the channel stopped enough money simultaneously for premiere series, large -scale shows and daily news. And on the air, after the annexation of Crimea, more political programs appeared, weakly interesting to the advertiser, who, in turn, goes to other channels and to the Internet. In 2018, the channel debt exceeded 20 billion rubles, the Medusa assessment of the ECI Media Managment. The debt to the largest contractor - the Red Square studio - in 2018 exceeded seven billion rubles. Contractors most often do not go to court so as not to spoil relations in a small market, says the interlocutor in one of the contracting companies.

Medusa interlocutors associate many of the channel problems with the fact that he began to develop the Internet late, and with a high share of political broadcasting. The news of the road in production takes the best time on the air, but fewer people are watching them, and the channel does not put advertising in them. Due to the fact that the air of the first is the “thorough mocking” from politics, entertainment and “evening Urgant”, the channel is losing popularity among advertisers, says the unnamed source of Medusa claims.

To stabilize the financial condition, the channel needs 46 billion rubles from the state to 2025, the PWC report ordered by the first. From the project of the three -year budget published by the Ministry of Finance in September, it became known that the agency proposed to allocate a new subsidy of 6.5 billion rubles in 2020 to the channel.

The interlocutor of Medusa, close to the administration of the President of Russia, says that now the Channel One is in limbo: it should decide whether the state needs a second nationwide canal with a large volume of information and socio-political broadcasting. On the channel, the text of the publication did not comment.
