The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is one of the most remote regions of Russia from the center. The region is known for mineral deposits and extremely low temperatures - 60 degrees Celsius below zero. At the same time, Yakutia is famous not only with a harsh climate and gold that is extracted here, but also by cinema. Yakut films participate in international festivals in Europe and Asia, receive awards, which are already over 80. The Yakut "Hollywood" is called "Sakhavud".
People with different experience are engaged in film production. Most directors do not have a special education, for some of them, directing is not the main way to earn money. Actors are people from the theater or from the people who have never starred in films before. 7-10 full -length films are removed here a year - from romantic comedies to fairy tales, taken based on local legends and beliefs. Sometimes Yakut films collect more than blockbusters. At the same time, the movie in Yakutia is shot even by the most modest Russian standards for little money: on average, the production of the film costs 1-2 million rubles. Despite this, Yakut film producers have ambitious plans - to win the viewer in Russia, and then in the world.
