In the Irkutsk region, in the territory of the abandoned factory "Usolekhimprom", the content of mercury in places exceeds the maximum permissible concentration of more than 33 thousand times. This was told by Izvestia by the head of Rosprirodnadzor Svetlana Radionova.
In an interview with the publication, she spoke about the course of the state program for the reclamation of the territory of the former chemical enterprise. According to her, a large study was conducted and a card with testimony was drawn up.
“In some places, they found an excess of the permissible concentration of mercury by more than 33 thousand times. Somewhere mercury can be touched with your foot-and it will ride! I would not advise anyone to be in such a place,” she added.
The official noted that billions of rubles will be spent on the reclamation of the plant. According to her, the Minister of Natural Resources is concerned with this problem, so the issue will be resolved with all the workshops in turn.
In 2020, funds are expected to allocate for the demurcurization of the mercury workshop. "And then work for each object will depend on the speed of decision with the authorities of the Irkutsk region," she explained.
