Two more protesters in Ingushetia were sentenced to imprisonment in a colony settlement

On December 24, the Zheleznovodsk City Court of the Stavropol Territory sentenced two participants in the protests in Magas on March 26-27 to imprisonment in a settlement colony. This was reported by the Human Rights Center "Memorial".

Eliskhan Azhigov received 1 year 5 months, Mussa Pliev - 1 year 6 months in a colony-settlement. Both were considered guilty under the article on the use of violence against government officials (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). They pleaded guilty, and their cases were considered by the court in a special manner, that is, without examining evidence.

Taking into account the time spent in the pre-trial detention center, Azhigov should be released on December 30, 2019, and Pliev on January 9, 2020.

• Earlier, the Zheleznovodsk court passed three sentences on the participants of the rally in Magas under the article on the use of violence against a representative of the authorities (Article 318 of the Criminal Code). On December 16, the court sentenced Zelimkhan Tomov to 17 months in a colony-settlement, on December 12 Ramazan Gagiev was sentenced to 4 months in a colony-settlement, on December 13 Seit-Magomed Nalgiev was sentenced to one year and four months in a colony-settlement. All criminal cases were considered in a special order.
• In September 2018, the authorities of Ingushetia and Chechnya signed an agreement to change the border between the republics, after which protests began in Ingushetia. On March 26, about 10,000 people came out to a rally in Magas. About two thousand protesters remained on the square all night. In the morning they began to be dispersed, as a result of which clashes broke out between the security forces and the protesters .
• The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on incitement to mass riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence dangerous to life and health against law enforcement officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). In it, according to the Human Rights Center "Memorial", at least 35 defendants, at least 29 defendants are in custody.
