Alexander Ovechkin had dinner with US President Donald Trump

Russian captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, attended a Christmas dinner at the residence of US President Donald Trump.

The striker and his wife Anastasia Shubskaya visited the Mar-a-Lago private residence in Florida, owned by the President of the United States. Trump has been living there permanently since November of this year.

At a festive evening, the 34-year-old Russian hockey player presented the American president with his game jersey.

The hockey player’s wife boasted about the details of the dinner on Instagram stories. “Nice to meet you, Mr. President,” Shubskaya wrote.

Ovechkin has been playing for Washington since 2005. With the capital's team, the Russian won the President's Cup three times (2010, 2016, 2017), which is awarded for winning the NHL regular season, and in 2018 he won the Stanley Cup.

In total, “Alexander the Great” played 1,122 matches in the NHL regular championships, in which he scored 1,247 points (681 goals + 566 assists). In this season's scoring race, he trails Boston's David Pastrnak by five goals.
