Why is the “box”, about which everyone says that it is “sucking”, “we don’t watch it”, “we have been thrown away for a long time”, nevertheless, continues to form the ideological views of Russians? Will television be able to stay in the positions of the "ruler of the Duma" in the coming year? If you still sometimes turn it on, then what and why? Visiting the editor of The Insider , Nikolai Rudensky and MK journalist Alexander Melman . The program "Faces to the event" Elena Rykovtseva is conducting.
Full video version of the program
Elena Rykovtseva: Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, with Catholic. Today we have chosen the most New Year's theme. With us, the editor of "Insider" Nikolai Ruden. The time for summing up the results of the year came right there. The results of the year of television occur at TEFI awards. You now see these ceremonies of different years on our screens. Someone you will find out, someone is not, I understand that many of you do not watch the TV sequentially. And we ask our audience: what and why are you watching on TV? Why do you turn it on? Do you have a TV, Nikolai, the phono?
Nikolai Rudensky: No, I admit.
Elena Rykovtseva: The influence of television undoubtedly exists, the ideological influence still makes people think so and not otherwise, to vote in this way and not otherwise, to evaluate the results of foreign policy and domestic political activities of the party and the government, personally Vladimir Putin, and not otherwise. Do you agree with this that it retains this influence on the bulk of the Russian population?
Nikolai Ruden: Yes, and no. I think that the influence of television is preserved, but it is no longer growing, as it was at the beginning of the Putin’s presidency, for almost 20 years, for a series of years after that. Now sociological surveys show that the Internet is largely more and more successfully competing with television, even displaces it. This is especially true in relation to the younger generation. At the same time, there are people, mostly older ages for whom television remains the main source of information, which can be more important, the main source of attitude to this information, the main source of views, opinions, and so on. Perhaps now there is a certain balance between television and the Internet with a promising further increase in the influence of the Internet, another thing is that it is not always possible to contrast these things in this ideological attitude. The Internet, of course, is much more diverse than television. Our state, if for a number of years it did not understand what the Internet was, somehow bypassed its attention, later it was corrected, in recent years it has been operating more and more intensively in it. So it is difficult to oppose viewers and Internet users simply on what a person uses on the Internet.
Elena Rykovtseva: A foreign audience that may not have a plate for receiving Russian channels can perfectly turn on YouTube and see the same ideological Russian show, and it does it, which is on TV. So I absolutely do not mean a box as a box, it may well be a computer on which you watch a television product. The show of Vladimir Solovyov, other similar shows, you look at YouTube, the numbers of the look at this moment of the present are quite high, they are watched on the Internet. Alexander from Moscow, hello.
Student: I usually turn on the first channel, I watch the program "What? Where? When?", I do not watch the news on any large channels. Only sometimes I turn on the show to understand what muck is prepared for us. And the channel "Culture" love to watch. And so for me there is the Internet, your guest said correctly, there you can see a lot that I used to see before. I like to listen to radio, etheric and the Internet.
Elena Rykovtseva: That is, people who like to listen to the radio and do not really like television, are still included in the games. Are you on the games?
Nikolai Rudensky: Yes. Let this not be considered advertising, but one of those programs that I watch constantly, with enthusiasm, is “my own game” on NTV. Even sometimes I change my plans for this, it has already become for me some need.
Elena Rykovtseva: I was struck in the certificate that was sent to journalists, a list of the most watcable programs in 2019, in the first place and not the first year, in my opinion, already a military parade on May 9. Do you understand why so many people are watching a military parade?
Nikolai Rudensky: I think there is no special riddle here. I am sure that if such surveys, studies were conducted in the distant Soviet time, they would show the same results. If the TV existed during the time of Paul of the first or Nikolai the First, then the parades would also be favorite spectacles at the court and in wider mass of people. Of course, this is a little strange, as far as I can judge, in Western countries, military parades generally moved into the area of the past for a long time. Einstein seems to have said that he can hardly understand how people can enjoy what they march to military music. Probably, to a lesser extent, it was clear to him why other people enjoy what they were looking at it.
Elena Rykovtseva: It seems to you quite understandable, explained, nothing in this special, purely specific Russian?
Nikolai Rudensky: Maybe it may. In any case, really such a situation in other countries, comparable to Russia in terms of civilizational development, has long been gone. There is really some difference here.
Elena Rykovtseva: We will now listen to why Olga Viktorovna from Krasnodar turns on.
Student: My husband is mostly watching TV, I don’t watch at all, I only watch the Internet and watch the radio. Sports programs are mainly watching football. Basically, we find out all the news from the Internet. The only thing that could be a good film can be, usually the old films are watching, Gaidai comedy. Neither the first nor the second channel, we look absolutely anything.
Elena Rykovtseva: With great interest, we will accept calls today, because if it turns out that no one is looking at the very ideological shows that we are hinting at the way of influence on the audience, it is not clear how these percentages are formed, which gives an inspection of the Kremlin. I propose to immediately turn on our street survey and listen to whether this word "socio-political show" will sound there.

What are you watching on TV?
Elena Rykovtseva: Very interesting. Who is watching all this and why they continue to influence and influence, and to each other to give TEFI bonuses.
Nikolai Rudensky: About 10 years ago, it was still that it was considered a good tone to say: I don’t watch the TV at all, I don’t have a TV, I threw the TV into the garbage dump. I remembered how Akhmatova told, in recent years she often had to lie in hospitals, women there, of course, talk to each other. She said that a typical female story begins with these words: well, I have not been living with my husband for so many years. But if you continue this thought, even if demographic statistics show that some of the women with husbands live. So, too, maybe to some extent now a good tone to say that there is something so shameful in watching the TV, especially the current political show. People do this, consciously or unconsciously ashamed to admit it.
Elena Rykovtseva: Irina from Tula, hello.
Student: I will start with the fact that a year ago we watched TV, and Soloviev liked it, and the first and second channel. Then some point in the family occurred, neither we, pensioners, nor the daughter, just stopped looking. All these political shows cause a gag reflex, I just can’t look at them.
Elena Rykovtseva: For four years they did what they continued to do this year. At what point it got out, which caused you that you can’t watch it more and perceive it?
Student: lies got out. The fact is that we watch TV, and we go to pharmacies, shops, markets, communicate. It took out what was already tired of Ukraine, Trump, such and such a tie, Putin looked at that Putin. You watch the Internet as our Putin comes out with six guards from the toilet. We have television is delayed for three to four days. If any news has passed immediately from your program or other program, our television is silent. They process information on how to submit, how to hang noodles on the ears of Russian citizens. So it is already tired of lies, there is nothing with reality nearby.
Elena Rykovtseva: Alexander Melman is in touch with us. You heard this call now. You also heard Vladimir Putin at the Valdai Forum, who suddenly said one day, answering the question of a Ukrainian political scientist, by the way, absolutely pro -Russian Pogrebinsky, Putin said: yes, true, are they offended there? Somehow he seemed to even give the team to soften something. He said that if there is something offensive there, then this is not necessary. Nothing happened, in these shows, as this rhetoric was completely disgusting, boorish, in places ugly, and remains. What is your forecast that it will be further with this category of the show, which are called ideological, "socio-political"?
Alexander Melman: In my opinion, they already said that we have, of course, the freedom of speech on Russian television in the broad sense of the word, when the most important boss of all the bosses gives a certain go-ahead, one might say, even orders, and his subordinates of his subordinates, even zero attention, do not accept this at all and continue to run ahead of the steam locomotive, each and faster ran after this Valda forum-this means that it says that There is unprecedented freedom on Russian television, as our favorite propagandists are talking about. On some, I even got hooked physically and morally and I can’t do anything about it. I definitely got hooked on the Mr. Evening M, so it turns out. I think that if we talk about some combination, then yes, we have Vladimir Vladimirovich the largest liberal. As Zhirinovsky was needed at one time, to scare someone or some Naziki were needed, if we still had such, against this background, Putin looks just wonderful, democratically, very civilized. So here it turns out if we say that this is some kind of contractual match, people play in accordance with the recorded roles. For some reason, it seems to me that people understand the measure of their freedom, the length of their leash, on this leash they run and bark to Ukraine, and sometimes some kind of liberal comrades on Russian. The government where the liberals dug in, there is simply a complete opportunity to protrude, which they are doing. Sometimes, by the way, they also trample on Dmitry Medvedev, sometimes even sorry for him. This is our free television.
Elena Rykovtseva: Absolutely free. Moreover, they always lived their lives, Vladimir Putin with his rhetoric, oriented to the West, television with his rhetoric, and apparently will continue to live. Alexey from Moscow, hello.
Student: I watch TV, watch sports channels. Some foreign channels associated with travel, with nature and all. Recently, in large cities, including in Moscow, a certain trend has formed when watching a TV is the same as rubbing cutlets from the refrigerator at night. You do not carry out a poll, a hundred kilometers from Moscow, there is a poor population with three buttons that are forced to listen to all this, because they do not have money for the Internet or you call the studio. There would be to go to the hinterland, listen. By virtue of my hobby, I often visit such places, people live there, Putin’s so -called electorate. Another programs with pigeons and so on, they are designed, including a society that will come to replenish the demographic decline, that is, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbeks, this is calculated.
Elena Rykovtseva: I think that they will not get involved in the so deeply Russian lighting of Ukrainian problems. Of course, we do not take into account that there is a huge mass of the population that we do not interview, which looks perfectly, supports, votes. Will their product change or not, if they focus on the mass that watched and looks?
Nikolai Rudensky: I have a prognosis rather pessimistic, I don’t think that in these programs and in those people who lead them the same Soloviev and Kiselev, there is some potential for change, for reorientation, firstly, from external problems, primarily from the same Ukraine to internal ones, secondly, with an evil, bewildered tone for some more calm, more trifling, more trifling, more trifling, more trifling, more trifling, more trifted, more trifling. Analytical, giving place to various points of view. It seems to me that it is unlikely that they are not capable of, although the propagandists of all this are quite flexible, but flexibility is only within certain limits. I think that they will not be able to change the genre, format, philosophy. But moreover, I do not think that this will be seriously demanded by those who can demand something from them. Unless it will still intensify more.
Elena Rykovtseva: After all, they can be hostages of this ORA, this hatred, this scream that they impose, because, firstly, they like it, they bathe in this, and secondly, they will just stop looking at, people are planted on hatred, at the scream, to the Ukrainians who are hired and invited by the contract.
Alexander Malman: They just tell us that they make such a balanced show. In the air of the same "evening M" and other comrades they say: look, you have in Ukraine, and in America there is no freedom as ours. We have representatives of one side here, the other side, a third party. But the global what you said is very interesting. Because we remember how it was in perestroika, like Soviet announcers, Soviet political observers were so well -sensed later out of the game, out of work. Although now nostalgia has covered them again, they are now in their own way in one way or another in demand. So, indeed, if the authorities change, it will be very interesting to follow those people who are now on the air. They imagine themselves with fundamental people, they say that we will never change their point of view, we think so sincerely. Well, well, I say, today you think so, but still historical television experience shows that in other conditions you will think differently. And then they will relate to you later, whether you will be the same as Soviet announcements, somewhere outside the blue screen, we will see.
