RIA Novosti: two former fighters of the FSB special unit Alpha were detained in connection with murder

Three men were detained in Moscow on charges of murder, according to the website of the capital's Investigative Committee. RIA Novosti, citing a source in law enforcement agencies , reports that two of them are former fighters of the FSB Alpha special forces unit.

Depending on their role, the men are charged under points “a”, “g”, “h” and “k” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder of two or more persons organized by a criminal group, murder for personal gain and in order to hide another crime) .

According to the investigation, one of the detainees “for the purpose of illegal enrichment” organized a group and attracted accomplices. “Carrying out the intent” and distributing roles, on November 28, 2008, the men killed a businessman and his driver in a building on Donskaya Street.

According to investigators, on May 29, 2012, the group received information about “the presence of a large sum of money” from a resident of Moscow. Having attacked the man, the accused inflicted bodily injuries on him, from which he died on the spot.

As the Investigative Committee said in a statement, investigators conducted more than 15 searches, including in the houses of the accused, and found “a large amount of firearms and explosives.” During interrogation, one of the detainees confessed against the other defendants.

As the source of the news agency clarified, the security forces “engaged in criminal activities” after their dismissal from the FSB.

RBC, citing the press service of the Presnensky District Court , reported that all three were arrested.
