Rosstat reported an increase in the number of poor people to 19.2 million people

In January-September 2019, the number of the poor (that is, people with incomes below the subsistence level) in Russia increased to 19.2 million people (13.1% of the population) from 19.1 million (13%) in the same period a year earlier. This is with reference to the preliminary data of Rosstat reports "Prime".

At the same time, in the third quarter of 2019, the number of poor people decreased to 17.6 million people (12%) from 18.3 million (12.5%) in the third quarter of 2018.

Rosstat will present statistics for 2019 as a whole in early 2020.

• According to the forecast of the Ministry of Economic Development, by the end of 2019, the poverty level in Russia will be 12.5% ​​of the population, recalls Interfax. In 2018, this figure was estimated at 12.6%.
• The cost of living in the third quarter of 2019 is 11,012 rubles.
