In January-September 2019, the number of the poor (that is, people with incomes below the subsistence level) in Russia increased to 19.2 million people (13.1% of the population) from 19.1 million (13%) in the same period a year earlier. This is with reference to the preliminary data of Rosstat reports "Prime".
At the same time, in the third quarter of 2019, the number of poor people decreased to 17.6 million people (12%) from 18.3 million (12.5%) in the third quarter of 2018.
Rosstat will present statistics for 2019 as a whole in early 2020.
