Bloomberg named Potanin the richest Russian businessman in a year

The CEO and largest shareholder of Norilsk Nickel, Vladimir Potanin, became richer than other Russian billionaires in 2019, writes Bloomberg. According to the agency’s estimates, over the year the businessman’s fortune increased by $8.5 billion – to $28.2 billion. In total, the five most successful businessmen and entrepreneurs earned $27 billion over the year.

In second place in the ranking is Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov (his wealth increased by $6.2 billion to $22.3 billion). Next on the list are Novatek co-owner Leonid Mikhelson (up by $5.2 billion to $24.6 billion), Volga Group owner Gennady Timchenko (up by $4.3 billion to $18.2 billion) and NLMK's main shareholder Vladimir Lisin with an increase in wealth by $3.5 billion - up to $21.3 billion.

Previously, Forbes magazine released a similar rating. Potanin also took first place. The publication estimated the growth of his income by 30% - to $23.8 billion. However, Mikhelson took second place in the rating. The businessman increased his fortune by $5.9 billion - up to $27 billion. Alekperov is in third place. His fortune increased by $5.3 billion to $23.8 billion, the publication notes. In fourth place is Timchenko, his income for the year increased by $4.1 billion to $22.7 billion. The owner of Power Machines, Alexey Mordashov, closes the top five. His fortune grew by $3.8 billion in 2019 to $20.2 billion
