The Prosecutor General's Office found no violations in the declarations of the Moscow prosecutor after an FBK investigation into his family's foreign real estate

The Prosecutor General's Office did not find “circumstances to doubt the reliability of the information” in the income declarations of Moscow Prosecutor Denis Popov, said Alexei Navalny’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh. The Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) previously found real estate in Spain and Montenegro from the prosecutor’s ex-wife.

The response from the Prosecutor General's Office to the FBK request states that civil servants are not required to indicate the income of parents and former spouses in the declaration.

At the same time, the foundation’s investigation stated that Irina Popova acquired foreign real estate in 2009-2010 while married to a prosecutor. Popov did not indicate this property in his declarations. At that time, investigators said, the prosecutor earned about 60 thousand rubles. According to FBK, the house on Rublyovka is registered in Popov’s mother’s name.
