The RFU will extend the contract with Cherchesov until 2022

The Russian Football Union and the head coach of the national team Stanislav Cherchesov agreed to extend the contract until 2022. This is reported by "Championship.com" without specifying specific sources.

According to the publication, the direct signing of the contract will take place next week.

• Cherchesov has led the Russian national team since 2016. Under his leadership, at the 2018 World Cup at home, the team achieved the best result at the World Championships in post-Soviet history, reaching the quarterfinals.
• Russia may miss the 2022 World Cup as WADA recommended in December 2019 that all Russian athletes be banned from major international competitions in all sports for four years. FIFA, which formally must obey this decision, has not yet expressed its final position.
