On January 15, the court of second instance canceled the fine to the Perm regional branch of the Memorial society and dismissed the case of “unauthorized seizure of forest areas.” The Public Verdict Foundation reports this.
In October, the Ministry of Forestry of the Perm Territory fined the chairman of the Perm “Memorial” Robert Latypov 50 thousand rubles and the society itself 200 thousand rubles for an expedition to the cemetery of Lithuanian and Polish repressed people. The fines were imposed under the article on unauthorized occupation of forest areas (Article 7.9 of the Administrative Code). In addition, the ministry issued a demand to the society to eliminate the identified violations.
The interests of the Perm “Memorial” were represented by the lawyer of the “Public Verdict” Foundation, Elena Pershakova.
