In the city of Wuhan in China, a second patient died, in whom a previously unknown strain of a virus from the coronavirus family was found. This was reported by the local authorities.
The 69-year-old man died on January 15 from pneumonia. A few days earlier, he had been hospitalized with impaired kidney function and serious damage to other organs.
- An outbreak of pneumonia caused by an unknown pathogen began in the city of Wuhan at the end of December. Since then, there have been 41 confirmed cases of infection. On January 9, the first of the sick people died, now five more people remain in critical condition.
- In mid-January, the first cases were reported in Thailand and Japan. In both cases, the cases were Chinese who had recently visited the city of Wuhan.
