Tinder is getting a button to call the police

The dating app Tinder will feature a panic button that users can press if they feel unsafe during a date. The Wall Street Journal writes about this.

For the sake of new functionality, Match Group, which owns Tinder, will buy a stake in the developer of the Noonlight application. It tracks a person's location and notifies emergency services if their safety is threatened.

The panic button will work based on Noonlight algorithms. When clicked, the user will be prompted to enter a code. If he does not do this, the dispatcher will first send him a message and then call him. If the user does not respond or asks for help, the police will be sent to him.

The new feature will be free. It will appear on the US version of Tinder at the end of January. Later it will become available to users from other countries (when exactly is not specified).
