Gleb Pavlovsky - about the next departure of Surkov from public service

The director of the Center for the Political Conjuncture, Alexei Chesnakov, said that Presidential Assistant Vladislav Surkov, who oversee relations with Ukraine and self -proclaimed republics, left the civil service and will take care of meditations in the next month. At the same time, Surkov himself did not comment on the information, and the presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decree has not yet been signed. Nevertheless, we asked to evaluate the event of the political scientist Gleb Pavlovsky, who knows Surkov well from the very beginning of his career.

"New": What happened to Surkov? Is this his personal “burnout” or was he asked to exit? If the second, then why?

Gleb Pavlovsky: Honestly, I do not see a special intrigue here. The way of the functioning of our power is such that you always have to choose between two equally possible options: disguised dismissal or whim. Moreover, if a whim, then you also have to choose: this is a whim of a chef or a subordinate. Judging by style - this is absolutely a style of glory.

In approximately the same way, he reported his departure in 2011, this is such a poetry really. The fact is reported so that it is slightly hiring. And then think what you want.

And he seems to get pleasure from it. I do not exclude that he himself left. I think that he had considered this opportunity for some time: he had not seen for himself further a worthy role and simply waited for a convenient moment. Because you can’t just leave in these parts - Ulyukaev experienced it well on himself. The total reorganization at the top, especially such chaotic, gave him a completely decent occasion to leave. Of course, there is no disagreement with the Kozak course, because Kozak has no concept and a course.

On the other hand, I think that Putin does not mind. He has already felt for a new model of personal relations with Zelensky - they are understandable and convenient for him. And he does not need no one for these relations, except for the functionaries to whom he gives instructions.

There are two options, both equally common: either Putin let Surkov understand that he did not really need him, or Glory made it clear to Putin that he wants to leave. I can’t choose between them, I just don't know. In any case, Putin will not object, I am almost sure of that.

Donbass will not sob either.

The field commanders with whom he established ties during this time were not his fan club, because from time to time one of them exploded in the elevator, and therefore there could be no great love on their part.

In fact, the main object of his concern was the Minsk agreements, but now Putin does not know how to get out of them.
