The Supreme Court of Dagestan rejected the appeal of the extension of the arrest of the journalist of the draft "Chernivik" Abdulmumin Gadzhiev. This was reported by the press service of the human rights center "Memorial".
Gadzhiev will remain in custody until March 13. In the pre -trial detention center, he has been in June 2019.
Gadzhiev’s lawyer, lawyer of Memorial Shamil Magomedov told the OVD-Info that the court was in standard mode, like all previous courts to extend the preventive measure. The defense considers the extension of the arrest unreasonable, since during the 7 months of the investigation of evidence of Gadzhiev’s involvement in the sane actions, it was not submitted. The defense also drew the attention of the Court to the practice of the ECHR and to the violation of the Code of Criminal Procedure when extending the preventive measure. One of the grounds for the extension of the arrest was the testimony of a classified witness. As Magomedov explained, the consideration of the witness indirectly indicates that the investigation does not have significant evidence against Gadzhiev, except for the reports of operational employees,
After the hearing, Gadzhiev thanked his colleagues, who made a video show in his support.
Today, the journalists of Medusa, Kommersant, Novaya Gazeta, Mediazones, Vedomosti and other publications published a video message in support of a colleague from the “Chernivka” Abdulmumin Gadzhiev, who was sitting in a pre -trial detention center.
