Tour operators calculated future losses from coronavirus

Due to the suspension of a tourist message between China and Russia, tour operators, hotels, air carriers, museums and transport can be missed $ 27 million only in February, counted in the tourist association “World without Borders”. The main loss will be on companies that were engaged in tours to Hainan Island.

• Without coronavirus, Russians would have made about 45 thousand tourist trips. However, Rospotrebnadzor and Rosturism recommended that they refrain from trips to China.
• Most of the tours (about 80%) would have been on the island of Hainan, where at that time the beach season. According to one of the tourist companies, the main losses will be incurred by exactly those operators who put it specifically in this resort and introduced charter programs. Among these companies are TEZ Tour, Anex Tour, Rus-Tour.
• The Chinese in February make about the same amount - about 45 thousand - trips to Russia. What will be unclear with them: Bloomberg wrote that the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism wrote out an order to ban trips, but officially such a document did not go out.
• If the Chinese stop visiting Russia, the country will lose a significant part of tourist income. Chinese tourists are spending expenses in Russia: according to the Central Bank, in the first quarter of 2019, they first spent more guests from other countries - $ 264 million.

To date, 80 people died from the new coronavirus, another 2794 people are infected.
