The European Parliament approved the Brexit agreement

The European Parliament approved the agreement on the exit of the UK from the European Union. This was reported on his Twitter.

681 deputies participated in the voting. 621 of them voted for the ratification of the agreement, 49 voted against, 13 abstained.

Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain signed the agreement on 23 January.

Brexit was supposed to start on March 29, 2019 following a referendum, but the House of Commons rejected the draft agreement three times. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson insisted that the country would leave the EU on October 31 with or without a deal, but parliamentarians opposed this. As a result, after Johnson's party won the majority of seats in the lower house, Brexit was set for January 31, 2020.

The transitional period will last until the end of 2020. For that time, the UK will remain a member of the single market and customs area.
