The court upheld the sentence of two defendants in the “Moscow case”

The Moscow City Court upheld the verdict on the defendants in the "Moscow case" Yegor Lesnykh and Maxim Martintsov. It is reported by Mediazona.

According to the prosecution, Lesnykh, Martintsov and another person involved in the case, Alexander Mylnikov, kicked National Guardsman Maksim Kosov during an action on July 27, and then threw him on the sidewalk. In addition, Lesnykh allegedly kicked police officer Alexei Fedorov. The defense provided a video at the trial, which shows that Lesnykh did not hit the law enforcement officer.

The security forces, whom the prosecution considered victims, did not appear at the appeal hearing on January 31, the defense insisted that it was impossible to consider the case in their absence, but the court ignored this argument.

In a text broadcast from the meeting, Mediazon quoted the appeal of the defense: the lawyers stressed that “the court unreasonably refused to interrogate a psychologist, did not assess the cruel actions of the police officers who used violence against civilians.”

• Maxim Martintsov's lawyer from OVD-Info, Mikhail Ignatiev, spoke on January 22 about the deterioration of his client's health in the pre-trial detention center. Martintsov has otitis media (inflammation in the ears), which, according to the lawyer, has already passed into the chronic stage. At the same time, the convict is not provided with the necessary medical care.
• On December 6, 2019, the Meshchansky District Court sentenced Yegor Lesnykh to three years in a penal colony, Maksim Martintsov to two and a half years in a penal colony, Alexander Mylnikov to two years of suspended imprisonment on charges of using violence against a government official by a group of persons (part 1 article 318 of the Criminal Code). Their criminal cases were combined into one proceeding. All three pleaded not guilty.
• On July 27, protests were held in Moscow in support of independent candidates in the elections to the Moscow City Duma, during which, according to OVD-Info, were detained 1,373 people . Three days after the action, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the riots. Several people have already been sentenced to real terms on charges of using violence against the police and the National Guard.
