"Fontanka" writes that the dead may be a 29-year-old resident of Petrozavodsk Matvey Kucherov. During the cut, the Wante got out of the cradle and was not fastened with a safety cable.

According to the publication, at first all employees performed dismantling while in cradles. They were supposed to cut 112 cables on which the roof was held. After nine fasteners were disconnected, she began to crack. Despite this, the welder got out of the cradle and was left without insurance on the edge of the roof.

The Ministry of Emergencies in St. Petersburg confirmed that one worker died. His body remains under the rubble. Three more workers were not injured.

The Investigative Committee began checking about the collapse.

The general director of SKA-ARENA, which acts as an investor in the construction of a new stadium, Igor Zabiran told Interfax that the collapse of the arena was planned.

"Dismantatic work implies the collapse of reinforced concrete structures," he said.

SKK "Petersburg" is demolished to build a new ice arena in its place. Its area will be 167 thousand square meters, height - 49 meters. The day before, the contractor presented a new sketch of the project.

Activists and local residents opposed the demolition of the building, although reconstruction was supposed in the project. They believed that the actions of the authorities and the potential concessionaire - SKA Arena - allow us to think that the building would still be demolished. Gennady Timchenko, who is the president of the SKA hockey club, is considered a real interest of the project.
