Grass and will
Ilya Romanov is one of the oldest participants in the anarchist movement in Russia. He arranged his first protests, for which he had a pencil at the KGB, as early as 1980, being a 13-year-old teenager: he independently printed in a home printing house and laid out on telephone boots in his hometown Gorky (Nizhny Novgorod) leaflets, exposing the power of the CPSU.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ilya took part in such a number of environmental, anti -war and human rights initiatives that, according to his biography, one could study the history of the protest movement of the nineties. Romanov took out the wounded from under the shelling during the 1993 October fights near the House of Soviets, painted anti-war graffiti at the military enlistment offices, when the first Chechen campaign began, defended the relict forest in the North Caucasus and Neskuchny Garden in the center of Moscow.
Ilya published several hundred copies of the magazine “Grass and will” (by analogy with the book of Peter Kropotkin “Bread and Volya”): “Extreme anarcho-psycho-pissing edition with rude drawings instead of photo and ablue themes”.
In the mid -nineties, Romanov met an anarchist Larisa Shchiptsova, who became his wife. They had a daughter. Family happiness did not last long: in 1998, Ilya was detained for storing a small amount of marijuana and closed in Butyrsky pre -trial detention center, and then sent to a psychiatric examination, which recognized him as insane. For compulsory treatment, he was sent to the Nizhny Novgorod closed psychiatric clinic. In total, the anarchist spent 2.5 years in isolation, after which he was obliged to live in Nizhny Novgorod for another year under the supervision of the police.
His wife, pregnant with a second child, his wife, meanwhile, became a defendant at once two loud political processes over the left -wing radicals.
In the case of the Federation of Anarchists, Kuban was accused of allegedly transferring a bomb to organize a terrorist attack against the Kuban governor Nikolai Kondratenko, who became famous for her struggle against the Russophobes and Zionists. The case was the character of a police provocation, Romanova’s defense was engaged in lawyer Stanislav Markelov, who was later killed by neo -Nazis.
Having been released in connection with the birth of a child, Romanov was soon arrested in the case of a “new revolutionary alternative”. She was found guilty of organizing two explosions near the FSB building on Lubyanka (the investigation was not even embarrassed by the fact that during the second of them the woman was in the Krasnodar pre -trial detention center) and the undermining of the gypsum monument to Nicholas II in Podolsk and sentenced to 6 years in prison.
Ilya Romanov returned to Moscow in the summer of 2002, was detained by special services staff and accused of storing and transporting explosives, but was released for lack of evidence. Fearing repression, the anarchist decided to move to Ukraine. There he met the Ukrainian left and began to participate in mass rallies against the Kuchma regime, which began in September 2002 under the slogan "Fast, Ukrainian!"
In December, Ilya was detained by SBU operatives. He became one of the accused in the “case of the Odessa Komsomol members” (his other name in the media was “torture”): according to the investigation, the novels, as part of a group of 11 people, planned the creation of the “Black Sea Soviet Republic” through a partisan war. The anarchist was also accused of organizing an explosion of a home-made bomb at the SBU headquarters in Kyiv as a revenge for the beating by the police of participants in the camp on the Maidan in October 2002.

According to Romanov himself, the gang of “Odessa partisans” was artificially fabricated by the Ukrainian intelligence services from radical left -wing, consisting of different organizations and had different views. “Odessa Komsomol members” in the case, in fact, were even less than half, the rest - either not Odessa, or not Komsomol members, or neither one nor the other, ”wrote the anarchist.
In July 2003, Romanova was sentenced to 10 years in a strict regime with confiscation of all property that he left from call to call.
Aryan terror
Freed in December 2012, Romanov returned to Nizhny Novgorod. He did not take any participation in the political life of the city and worked in the most “dirty”, low -paid works: where they get without checking the security service. “A loader, a security guard without a license, an operator of a heapon car, a handyman at a confectionery factory. In short, he was at the most social bottom, the rejection of society, ”recalls the anarchist.
On October 26, 2013, Ilya Romanov went to a deserted square at night to test the subject, which will then appear in the case file as a home -made explosive device, and Romanov himself considers artisanal pyrotechnics.
“The subject was a home -made firecracker, or, if you like, you can call it an“ explosion ”, but this is not an explosive device,” Romanov later wrote to the editorial office of the anarchist magazine Autonom.
“It was several tablespoons of a pyrotechnic mixture (and not explosive) in a plastic box from under a quick-cook noodles.”
The tests were unsuccessful: the firecracker exploded in Romanov in his hands. The explosion burned his face and seriously damaged his hand. The bloodied anarchist turned to the hospital for help, where he was amputated with the left brush and part of the left forearm.

After the operation, Romanov was arrested and transferred to the Nizhny Novgorod pre -trial detention center. The initial prosecution under Part 1 of Art. 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal production of explosives) soon changed to a more difficult article 205 of Part 1 - the preparation of a terrorist act. The proof of the anarchist’s terrorist intentions was two found on his computer when searching for a file.
The first was a neo -Nazi edition of the Aryan Terror. The journal of practical training of white terrorists ”, the second - a file in the *DOC format with typos and personal threats to the leadership of the city and regional administration.
Romanov believes that the Nazi magazine was retained by the operatives themselves on his computer, they also wrote a illiterate note. According to the investigation that the FSB was engaged in, Romanov learned about the upcoming deforestation for buildings in Nizhny Novgorod parks and decided to organize a terrorist attack “to intimidate the population” to prevent this. For some reason, the regional military registration and enlistment office was elected as a target for terrorism, located 30 meters from the square, where an explosion occurred.
The accusation was added to the preparation of the attack on the court under part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public calls for terrorist activities using the media): Ilya recalled the statement made by him in Ukraine in an interview after release in 2012.
In August 2015, the Nizhny Novgorod court sentenced Ilya Romanov to 10 years in a maximum security colony. The Supreme Court after appeal softened the verdict up to 9 years. He was sent to serve his sentence to IK-22 of the village of Lepley of the Zubovo-Polyansky district of Mordovia.

Occult jihad
The humble “Sidel” from Ilya Romanov did not work out predictably. IK-22 for a long time was a specialized colony for foreigners, about 2/3 of the convicts there were visitors. Many of them poorly owned Russians, so Romanov helped them with writing complaints about the conditions of detention and cassations for the verdict.
“The convicts come to me from all over the camp and drag their documents with a request to write“ Kasachka ”or“ supervision ”(already starting patience),” wrote Romanov in the text “In what century does the Mordovia live?”, Transferred to the publication of the Mediazon. There, he talked about slave working conditions at work in the colony, about torture with cold (when a prisoner is exposed in the frost in some panties so as not to leave traces of beating) and concluded from the cat-d'Ivoir, who, after raping with a club, went crazy and began to rush into the jailers with feces.
In February 2017, Romanov, who was complaining about hypertension, was transferred to the medical institution No. 21 in the Mordovian village of Barashevo, where he remained for four months. There he met with Sergey Zhuravlev, serving an 18-year term for smuggling of cocaine from Argentina. Zhuravlev allowed Romanov to use his smartphone and invited the anarchist to start a Facebook page to correspond with friends and lay out political carications, the drawing of which he entertained himself in prison.
By May 2017, several dozen black and white pictures were published on the page, in an insulting form of depicting Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, special services and personally the Nizhny Novgorod investigator Kurkin, who conducted the case of the explosion of pyrotechnics.
When Zhuravlev told Romanov that he was reading a book about black magic, the anarchist invited him to conduct occult rituals against the country's leadership. During one of these rituals, Romanov made a rag human figure, pierced her head and liver with a needle. Rituals Zhuravlev and Romanov were also laid out on Facebook.

On May 3, to the ward, where Romanov was lying, the FSIN officers broke through the window with an unscheduled search.
“Just a few minutes before the search, Zhuravlev handed him the phone,” says Oleg Zaitsev, lawyer Ilya Romanov. -He said, look, there the wife writes something to you in social networks. At the trial, Zhuravlev admitted that he called up from this phone with the operative of the Mordovian FSB Yegor Mitochkin, but denied that they discussed Ilya Romanov. According to him, with Mitochkin they solved some of their issues. He, they say, this FSBshnik supports him in places of imprisonment.
Egor Mitochkin took the seized smartphone from the FSIN employees, studied and found that very Facebook page, on which IMAM TV was published on the same day: promoting radical Islamists.
For calls for jihad an anarchist was charged under Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code (public propaganda of terrorism using the Internet). Occult videos were also useful in paradoxically: according to the prosecution, the anarchist was so dissatisfied with the regime that he considered any means permissible in the fight against him. Ilya Romanov “intends to influence what is happening with the help of occult forces.
In an extremely hostile aggressive form, he wishes to death to President Putin, confirming that he performs certain actions for this, ”the expert of the Mordovian Ministry of Internal Affairs Prokaev wrote in conclusion.
Romanov himself claimed that the jihadist video was posted on his page when he physically had no access to the phone, and explained that it was equally far from both Islam and vudism. He conducted occult rites for the same purpose as he painted caricatures: because he considered it funny.
“It was a deliberate provocation,” said Larisa Romanova ( now she has another family, but the woman did not divorce Ilya to help him in the places of imprisonment. - R.K. ) - the hypertensive exacerbation that he complained about is already a harbinger of a stroke, but all the 4 months that he lied in the HPP, no one healed and did not examine him. There were decent conditions, normal food, he believed that he was sitting with some “looking”, amused and began to record these stupid videos. All this time, Ilya was closely observed, and when they realized that he did not say and did not do anything special (and to draw caricatures on Putin, nevertheless, it was not prohibited by law), the events decided to force. Listen, what jihad? Ilya laughed over the priests all his life and painted cartoons on them.
It turned out at the trial that Yegor Mitochkin established wiretap in the Romanov ward, and instead of real hypertension, he was diagnosed with a “fistula”, which Ilya never had. Mitochkin motivated the need for wiretapping by the fact that Romanov constantly leads among convicts talking about the need to fight the Putin regime, and in the premises IK-22 "Obtaining audio recordings of good quality was impossible." In October 2018, the Volga District Military Court sentenced the anarchist to another 5.5 years in the colony.
The threat is paralyzed
On October 24, 2019, Ilya Romanov, who was in the penalty cell, had a stroke, he fell into a coma. Romanov was sent for examination to a civil hospital in a dentition, and then transferred back to LPU-21.
Leaving the coma, he was completely paralyzed, could not speak and did not understand the speech. The first time after the stroke, Romanov did not even have a chewing reflex.
Fortunately, one of the hospital orderlies (the prisoner himself) turned out to be a kind person and literally fed him from a spoon, rubbing the Balande into a liquid state.
A few days later, Zaitsev tried to visit Ilya, but the IK-22 administration instead of a meeting issued him a certificate that Romanov was in serious condition due to acute cerebrovascular circulation in ischemic type.

“ I certainly think that they brought my client to a stroke,” says Oleg Zaitsev. - Since May 2019, it was kept in a schizo for months, drawing endless minor violations ( according to the Federal Penitentiary Service, Romanov refuses to greet them * - R.K. *).
There are bad conditions, Ilya was nervous, he already had problems with health. He is already a middle -aged person who was soaring in prisons 20 years of life, and they began to mock him.
Another lawyer, Roman Kachanov, tried to get to Ilya twice, and both times were refused, despite the fact that the colony administration was obliged to organize a lawyer date even at the bed of a bedstanding patient. Kachanov sent a petition to Zubovo-Polyansky District Court of Mordovia in connection with the presence of a disease that impedes the detention (the consequences of a stroke fall under the 47th paragraph of the corresponding list).
Mordovian human rights activist Sergei Maryin appealed to the ECHR with a motion to apply the Rules No. 39 to Ilya (the prohibition of the state to perform actions that can lead to causing irreparable harm to life and health) for its immediate delivery to a civilian hospital.
On November 11, for the first time after the stroke, Romanov examined the prison neurologist and informed Larisa by phone several items of the necessary drugs. The next day, however, the colony administration refused to take medications, as well as anti -prose ointments and diapers from Maryin who brought them.
The ECHR, meanwhile, communicated the complaint of Sergei and sent the government of the Russian Federation to provide a copy of the medical record of Ilya Romanov and explain for what reasons his family members and lawyer do not have access to him.
On November 28, lawyer Roman Kachanov was finally allowed on a date to Ilya. He found that Romanov is conscious, can read and understand speech, but he himself can hardly utter only a few words (“yes”, “no”, “of course”). During the conversation, he gestured to the left stump, the entire right half of his body is completely paralyzed.
On January 9, after the intervention of the ECHR, Larisa Romanova received a copy of the part of the medical record of Ilya, which contained the results of his examination by civilian doctors of Saransk (earlier the Federal Penitentiary Service refused her access to these documents, referring to a medical secret). At this moment, it turned out that the prison doctors misled her about the diagnosis of Ilya.
In fact, it was not ischemic, but a hemorrhagic stroke: that is, not a violation of cerebral circulation, but a large -scale intra -brain hemorrhage. This condition is much more dangerous, mortality after intracerebral hemorrhages reaches 40%. In 80-85% of cases, the cause of hemorrhagic stroke is hypertension.
According to Larisa Romanova, the probability of living after a hemorrhagic stroke does not exceed 10%for more than a few years.
Knowing perfectly about a terrible diagnosis, the Medical University Commission-13 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia on December 4 issued a conclusion that Romanov does not have a serious illness that prevents the content of in custody. Larisa also learned about this only a month later from the documents of the ECHR.

In the examination and evaluation prepared by the Interregional Center on the basis of Romanov’s medical documents by the conclusion (there is at the disposal of “New”) it is indicated that:
The diagnosis of a stroke from the ischemic type was originally made to him was a medical error and could lead to the death of Ilya.
