
On February 2, residents of Syktyvkar went to a mass picket against amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Internet magazine "7x7". About 35 people took part in the action.
According to activists, the changes proposed by Vladimir Putin cannot be considered by one package, since they affect both the social and political spheres of public life. In addition, the amendments do not have a word about the nationalization of resources, and this, according to the participants in the action, the "first step" to the creation of a social state.

The President proposed to establish the priority of the Russian Constitution over international law and consolidate the status and role of the State Council revived by him. The opposition fears that Putin announced this extent so that in 2024, when the term of his presidential powers expires, to head the State Council and, thus, remain in power.
At the same time, Putin appointed a working group to prepare amendments to the Constitution, which included 75 people. They have already proposed introducing more than one hundred new points into the basic law of the country. The bill on amendments to the Constitution unanimously adopted the Russian Duma of Russia in the first reading. The second reading is scheduled for February 11, but its transfer to a later date is not excluded.
According to the Levada Center, 47 percent of Russians believe that the amendments are made in the interests of Vladimir Putin in order to expand his powers and allow him to remain in power after 2024.
