In Tomsk, doctors forcibly admitted pensioner Rimma Kruts to a psychiatric hospital after a solitary picket during which she accidentally set her clothes on fire. This is reported by the publication Vtomske.ru with reference to Mikhail Kruts, Rimma's husband.
During a picket on February 3, Kruci set fire to her poster, but the wind caused the fire to spread to her scarf. The protester received burns. According to her husband Kruts, on February 5, she was invited to an appointment at the Tomsk Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Rimma repeatedly called there, we were waiting for an appointment. When they left the apartment, she saw the car of the “psychiatric hospital” and said that they had come for her. I said that it was all nonsense, and we went to the Ministry of Internal Affairs: we asked a neighbor to take us. Our neighbor dropped us off at Baltiyskaya because he was late, we were going to go further by bus. As soon as we got out of the car, an ambulance stopped behind us, which was at the house. Mikhail Kruts also noted in a conversation with Vtomske.ru that the police officers did not introduce themselves, but were in uniform. At the same time, two more cars were standing next to the ambulance, from which people also got out.
One of them introduced himself as the head physician of a psychiatric hospital and asked to go with them. After that, according to Mikhail Kruts, the spouses were “pushed into the car” and taken to the hospital.
Doctors asked the protester various questions, including why she stood with a banner and set it on fire. Then they declared that they had the right to detain Kruts for 48 hours. According to her husband, they were not given any documents about the detention. Mikhail Kruts was then released.
