Post -Fordist city. Is a metropolis possible without cars?

Our megacities are created by Henry Ford: all transport communications, logistics, layout and rhythm of life are “sharpened” under the car. In the 21st century, humanity simultaneously gets rid of the internal combustion engine, replacing it with electric traction, and from a private car, transplanting to public transport, car sharing and taxi. Is a city free from private cars possible in the future?
