In Kaliningrad, an officer who put out a cigarette butt on a private and hit him in the stomach received a suspended sentence

The Kaliningrad garrison military court sentenced Baltic Fleet officer Grigory Rogozin to three years probation for putting out a cigarette butt on a private and punching him in the stomach. This was reported by New Kaliningrad and Interfax North-West .

In June 2019, the deputy commander of the reconnaissance artillery division of the military unit, Rogozin, instructed the conscript to prepare documents. He did not complete the task, then the officer, according to investigators, insulted the soldier and put out his cigarette butt on his uniform. The private protested, and Rogozin responded by punching him in the stomach.

The officer was found guilty of exceeding official powers with the use of violence (Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code). “When sentencing Rogozin, the court took into account various mitigating circumstances, including the fact that the officer publicly apologized to his subordinate and has a dependent young child,” Interfax North-West reports.
