New defect discovered in Boeing 737 MAX software

Boeing engineers have identified a new software bug in the 737 MAX aircraft. The newly discovered defect is associated with the operation of a sensor that warns of a malfunction in the balancing system.

The company emphasized that the problem will be fixed before the new 737 MAX is put into operation. At the same time, Boeing noted that the newly discovered malfunction will not affect the deadlines for the delivery of the airliners, which are now scheduled for mid-2020.

• 737 MAX flights around the world have been suspended since March 2019 due to two air crashes that killed a total of 346 people. In both cases, the crash occurred due to incorrect operation of the MCAS system: it was supposed to prevent the excess of the angle of attack, but instead directed the planes down.
• Initially, Boeing intended to rewrite the software only for the MCAS system, but in early 2020, the company announced that the airliner software would be completely rewritten.
