Former Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeev, who oversaw Dmitry Medvedev agriculture in the government, will become the vice-speaker of the State Duma. The Medusa correspondent told about this two people close to him, the interlocutor confirmed the information in the lower house of the parliament.
Now the chairman of the Duma has the first two deputy (Unicorn Alexander Zhukov and communist Ivan Melnikov) and six ordinary ones (four United Russia and representatives of the LDPR and Fair Russia). Alexey Gordeev has the right to become a deputy, as he headed the regional group No. 24 of the United Russia list in the 2016 State Duma elections, when he worked as the Governor of the Voronezh region. After the election, Gordeev abandoned the mandate, and now, in order for him to get it back, one of the deputies chosen according to the list of the United States should be composed.
Updated . The head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma, Sergei Neverov, officially confirmed on the morning of February 7 that Alexei Gordeev was transferred to the post of vice speaker of the parliament. He will receive the deputy mandate of Gennady Kulik. Neverov himself, who combines the posts of the head of the faction and the vice speaker, will focus on party work as a result of the permutations.
In the case of Gordeev’s transition to the State Duma, this will be the fourth place of work for him in three years. In 2017, he left the post of Voronezh governor and became the presidential envoy in the Central Federal District, in 2018 he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister. He headed the Voronezh region in 2009, and he led the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation for nine years. The transition of the Deputy Prime Minister to the State Duma leadership in Russia does not happen for the first time: in 2016, Alexander Zhukov, who worked as deputy chairman of the government from 2004 to 2011, became the first vice speaker.
According to the sources of Medusa, the State Duma is not the only, but the most likely option for employment by Alexei Gordeev. He himself considered it desirable to appoint a president’s assistant (this position was received by former members of the government of Dmitry Medvedev - former Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky and former Minister of Economics Maxim Oreshkin), but this opportunity was blocked by Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev. His son Dmitry, who led the Ministry of Agriculture, had a fairly stretched relationship with Gordeev.
In addition to the place of the vice speaker, the candidacy of Gordeev is considered to the post of governor of the Belgorod region, who has been unequivocally led by Yevgeny Savchenko since 1993, the only Governor-Slezelves of the era of Boris Yeltsin, who was last chosen by the head of the region in 2017. For Savchenko, this period is in any case the last one: the heads of regions cannot be elected more than two times in a row from the date of return of the elections in 2012.
The Belgorod region is considered one of the most advanced agrarian regions of Russia, so the appointment of its head of the former Deputy Prime Minister in agriculture, who has already led the same agrarian subject, Voronezh region, looks logical. “The heavyweight of Savchenko would have replaced the same heavyweight Gordeev,” the source of Medusa, close to the Kremlin, explains the logic. However, the option with the appointment of Alexei Gordeev in Belgorod is now unlikely - younger candidates are considered for this position.
