A defendant in the "Moscow case" Alexey Minyailo won 150 thousand rubles for illegal prosecution. He demanded ten times more

The Tverskoy Court of Moscow ordered the Ministry of Finance to pay 150 thousand rubles to the former defendant in the “Moscow case” Alexey Minyailo for illegal criminal prosecution.

Alexey Minyailo was detained on August 1, he was accused of participating in mass riots at a rally in Moscow on July 27. The activist himself stated that he did not participate in the action at all, as he was detained before it. In late September, Minyailo was released from custody: the judge found that his actions showed signs of only an administrative violation. After that, his case was closed.

Minyailo demanded compensation in the amount of one and a half million rubles as compensation for moral damage, losses and damage to business reputation. In the lawsuit, he emphasized that in the pretrial detention center, in particular, he was forced to sit naked during the search, and loud music was also played, and that the prosecutor's office did not apologize for the illegal criminal prosecution after the case was closed.

Following the court's decision, Minyailo stated that he would seek payment of the entire amount he demanded.

• In addition to Minyailo, three other defendants in the Moscow case — Sergei Abanichev, Vladislav Barabanov, and Daniil Konon — have filed claims for damages for illegal prosecution. They have not yet been reviewed.
