Rostelecom chose tablet suppliers for census

The suppliers of tablets for the All -Russian census will be Baiterg and Aquarius PC, and contracts for the supply of devices will be concluded with them soon. This decision was made by the Board of Directors of Rostelecom on the recommendation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vedomosti writes.

In response to a request from the publication in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, they stated that the department sent Rostelecom information about all tablets from the Unified Register of Russian Radio Electronic Products (PC Aquarius, Baiterg, Business Office and Kraftvey Corporation PLS), and made the final choice at Rostelecom. However, the representative of the operator said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommended choosing Aquarius and Baiterg PC.

It is assumed that contracts with two companies will be concluded by August 1. They will have to make a total of 360 thousand tablets. The choice of two suppliers at once is explained by the desire of Rostelecom to minimize the risk of non -fulfillment of the obligations of one of the companies. Now we are talking about the fact that the Aquarius PC will supply 60% of the devices, and Baiterg-the remaining 40%, but in the case of force majeure, the order can be redistributed. The Russian mobile OS Aurora (former Sailfish, belongs to Rostelecom) will be installed on all tablets.

Recall that in early September last year, Rostelecom requested the prices of tablets from several companies. Then it became known that the requirements for the technical characteristics of the tablets include the presence of the main camera with a resolution of at least 5 megapixels, frontal with a resolution of at least 2 megapixels, RAM with a volume of 2 GB and the main memory with a volume of 8 GB. The weight of the tablet should not exceed 700 grams, it should have a NFC module, and the supplier must provide a guarantee for 1.5 years for all components and change the failed device during the census within 48 hours (from October 1 to October 31, 2020).

As a result, the first Rostelecom contest was won by two companies that were ready to supply Chinese -made tablets, but in December it became known that the government will oblige Rostelecom to cancel the results of the tender and purchase Russian -made tablets.

Baiterg specializes in security and video surveillance systems. According to SPARK, the revenue of this company for 2018 amounted to 1.2 billion rubles. From the information on the company’s website it follows that in a year it produces 100 thousand products, while under a contract with Rostelecom it will be released by 144 thousand tablets.

The Aquarius PC company produces computer equipment, servers and data storage systems. The company's revenue in 2018 amounted to 8.5 billion rubles, and per year it produces 400 thousand devices. The representative of the company said that he was not ready to comment on the issue of supplying tablets "Rostelecom" before the conclusion of the contract.
