Jehovah's Witnesses: more than 200 believers included in the list of extremists and terrorists

Rosfinmonitoring has added more than two hundred Russian followers of the Jehovah's Witnesses religion to the list of extremists and terrorists. This was reported on the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia.

Most of the people on the list are believers between 40 and 50 years old who are under investigation or sentenced to various punishments under Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organization or participation in the activities of an extremist organization). It is noted that the list even included 85-year-old resident of Vladivostok Elena Zayshchuk, whose case the court recently returned to the prosecutor’s office.

“We don’t need trouble,” these were the words the recently convicted Alexei Miretsky heard from the director after a search of his home. Employers refuse to hire a person if he cannot open an account to which his salary must be transferred. There is no right to even register and receive unemployment benefits. There is no opportunity to run a business, obtain a foreign passport or visa, or even purchase a SIM card,” says the Jehovah’s Witnesses website.

• The Federal Service for Financial Monitoring (Rosfinmonitoring) is a government body involved, among other things, in combating the financing of terrorism and money laundering. A person who is on the Rosfinmonitoring list of extremists and terrorists is restricted from almost all financial transactions, and his bank cards and accounts are blocked.
• On April 20, 2017, the Supreme Court recognized the “Administrative Center of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia” as an extremist organization, liquidated it and banned its activities in Russia. Later, all Jehovah's Witnesses organizations were added to the list of prohibited organizations. After this, a stream of criminal cases against representatives of the confession began.
