Businessman Alisher Usmanov handed over to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne the originals of Pierre de Coubertin's manifesto calling for the revival of the Olympic Games. It is reported by the IOC.
According to Vedomosti, in 2019 the manifesto was sold at Sothebyʼs auction for $8.8 million, the buyer was not named.
- The head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, called the transfer of the document a "historical moment", Usmanov, in turn, noted that the Olympic Museum is "the most suitable place for this priceless manuscript," according to a press release from the committee.
- Coubertin wrote a manifesto in 1889 on the letterhead of the International Congress of Physical Education.
