The ECHR awarded 20 thousand euros of compensation on a complaint about beating a detained person in the Kuban

The European Court of Human Rights ordered the Russian authorities to pay compensation to Denis Kalinin, whom in 2012 Krasnodar police beat the cooler during the detention. The decision was proclaimed on February 4.

The court admitted that in relation to 39-year-old Kalinin, Article 3 of the European Convention was violated, which refers to the ban on inhuman or humiliating dignity. Kalinin, who spent five and a half years in prison in the assassination case, should pay 19,400 euros (about 1.4 million rubles).

In Russia, a criminal case was instituted against police officers in 2013 on abuse of authority with the use of violence (part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code). Then in the UK they decided to verify Kalinin’s data that when detained in September 2012, the police beat him and another person involved in the case with “arms and legs, as well as a plastic bottle of water with a capacity of 19 liters over the heads, torso and limbs”.

As Denis Kalinin told Mediazone, the investigation of the case of beating by the cooler of the Kuler actually stopped after 14 refusal decisions. At the same time, two of his defendants, Georgy Bagramyan and Armenak Babajanyan, are now in the status of the defendants in one more case - on extortion of money and beating (part 3 of article 286 and part 2 of article 163 of the Criminal Code) of the suspect in the storage of drugs, which turned out to be disabled childhood with pensions from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
