"Memorial" recognized the political prisoner activist Julia Tsvetkov, accused of pornography

The human rights organization Memorial recognized the artist Julia Tsvetkov, who is accused of the distribution of pornography (clause “B” of part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code) because of the pictures in the public “Vagina’s monologues”. This was reported on the site "Memorial".

“We believe that the criminal prosecution of Julia Tsvetkova is caused by her social activities and an active feminist position. She promotes her views with absolutely legitimate methods as an activist and a figure of contemporary art, ”the release says.

As the human rights activists added, "the incriminated flowering materials in principle cannot be recognized as pornographic."

The artist led public in VKontakte about sexual education and put stages in the theater. Since November 2019, the activist has been under house arrest.
