A resident of Vladimir was sentenced to nine years for killing his wife with a chisel; she repeatedly contacted the police due to domestic violence

The Frunzensky District Court of Vladimir sentenced a local resident who stabbed his wife to death with a chisel to nine years in a maximum security colony (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code). This was reported by the regional department of the Investigative Committee.

The man's name is not named, but the court's website contains information about only one sentence under this article, passed over the past week. The defendant's name is Yuri Semenov.

According to investigators, in July 2019, Semenov drank with his wife. The couple quarreled, after which he beat his wife and then hit her several times with a chisel. The woman died.

As the Investigative Committee clarifies, the couple have been married for 20 years. Semyonov often beat his wife, who constantly contacted the police. The release states that “criminal cases were repeatedly initiated against the accused for beatings and threats to kill, but the use of preventive measures and criminal prosecution did not affect the change in the man’s personality, including due to the fact that the woman in all cases forgave and reconciled with her husband.”

The files of the Vladimir courts contain information about only one criminal case against Semenov, in addition to the current one. In 2015, he was accused of robbery, but the case was dropped due to the reconciliation of the parties. According to investigators, Semenov took three mobile phones from an acquaintance.
