Ministry of Internal Affairs: a policeman hit a girl at a rally on August 10 because she prevented him from raising his baton

The Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Central Administrative District sent an official response to Daria Sosnovskaya, who complained of violence from a police officer who hit her in the stomach during her arrest at the rally on August 10. The document was published by the Baza telegram channel.

“During a careful viewing of the video, you will notice that during the arrest and escort you walked calmly, taking steps of equal length, until you noticed that the police officer was reaching for the “baton” that had fallen to the ground. At this moment, you take a wide step in order to have time to step on the “baton” and the hand of the police officer in order to prevent him from raising the “baton”. That is why the police officer, in order to prevent unlawful actions, first pushes your leg, and only then pushes you in the abdominal area ,” the letter says.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also stated that Sosnovskaya shouted “Shame, Shame!” and behaved aggressively towards police officers. The department noted that employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Central Administrative District did not participate in the detention of protesters on August 10.

In a conversation with Rosbalt, lawyer Tatyana Molokanova noted that in this way, “according to the police, hitting a woman in the stomach is normal, and you can even find an excuse.”

Daria Sosnovskaya was detained at a rally on August 10, which took place in the center of Moscow after an agreed rally for fair elections. She was hit in the stomach and head. After this, the girl was diagnosed with a concussion. The publication of the video of the moment Sosnovskaya was hit caused a wide resonance; celebrities, including singers Yegor Creed and Sergei Lazarev, asked the policeman to be brought to justice.
