January-2020 became the warmest month in Europe in the history of observations

Researchers have confirmed that European skiers have already noticed: winter 2019–2020 beats temperature records. The last January became the warmest month in Europe in the history of meteorological observations: the temperature was 3 degrees higher than on average, the Copernicus climate report, which quotes Bloomberg.

The warmest in the history of observations was recognized by January in Russia. In Europe, winter set the previous record in 2007, but January-2020 was warmer-0.2 degrees Celsius.

Anomalous heat was especially felt in northeastern Europe: for example, in Norway, directly associated with winter sports, this year skiing and snowboards on covered slopes. It was in Norway that the warmest January day was recorded in the history of observations, after which news immediately appeared about people swimming in the fjords, who should be covered with ice this season.

Anomalous warming was observed in most of the US territory, as well as in East Canada, Japan and in some parts of China and Southeast Asia, the report said. The absolute temperature record was recorded in Antarctica: a few days ago there was 18 degrees of heat.
