
In Veliky Novgorod, the former vice-governor of the regional government, Boris Vorontsov, admitted to the major fraud of which he was accused by the investigation. It is reported by "Interfax."
Vorontsov, who until 2010 worked in the government of the Novgorod region, in 2013 took a loan for 255 million rubles at the bank. He received the money according to false documents. The former official did not return the loan to the bank.
Later, Vorontsov bought a property complex in the city of Staraya Russa. He resold the complex controlled by the organizations, and received 6 million rubles from the city budget as a compensation for VAT. The investigation also believes that Vorontsov helped his friend from St. Petersburg received a loan at the Bank of Veliky Novgorod for 136 million rubles. The money was supposed to be spent on the reconstruction of two hotels, but the entrepreneur spent funds on her own.
