Mail.ru Group is testing a video service called "Watch Mail.ru" - the mention of it was found in the Pulse recommendation system, the Kommersant newspaper writes. The company's plans to launch such a service became known in mid -December last year.
The press service of the company confirmed the existence of the service and clarified that it works in beta testing mode. The content of the service is selected on the basis of preferences of a particular user and includes clips, news, television shows, video blogs, as well as films and series. “The product is based on the concept of a personal television channel. This is a service for background viewing of a video in which you do not need to look for an interesting channel or hunt for transmission or film,” said Anna Artamonova, vice president of Mail.ru Group.
It is assumed that the "See" service will be built into a series of media projects of the company. It will also be available on a separate site and in the form of mobile applications for iOS and Android, and in the future on the main page of Mail.ru. It will be possible to use the service for free, but with its help the company will expand the video annual, which will be available to advertisers, and will give new opportunities for affiliate integration. Mail.ru Group indicated that all the content in the service is legal and provided by lawmakers. It is possible that in the future, unique content will be created for the project.
According to the head of the TV department and the J'Son & Partners Consulting Content Dmitry Kolesov, the Mail.ru Group advisory service can only be monetized through advertising. In the future, Mail.ru Group is likely to be created by its own content - the company already has such an experience within the framework of “Odnoklassniki” and “VKontakte”.
As the publication, a similar service, called the name "My ether" recalls, launched "Yandex" last May. "My air" is built into the Yandex.Fir video platform and forms personal recommendations of films, series, clips, sports broadcasts and video blogs based on user preferences.
