Erdogan called the new military operation of Turkey in Syria "Question of Time"

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the military operation in the Syrian Idlib is a matter of time, the Turkish television channel NTV reports.

According to the president, Ankara makes the last warnings to Damascus, and preparations for the implementation of the Idlib plan have been completed. Earlier, Ankara said that the Russian-Turkish negotiations on Idlib , which took place on February 8 and 10 in Turkey, and on February 17 and 18 continued in Russia, "have not yet brought satisfactory results."

The press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called the possible operation of Turkey the worst script of the development of events, and noted that Russia will continue contacts with the Turkish side so as not to allow the situation in Idlib to develop along the path of further injury. “We were satisfied with the agreements that were reached more than a year ago in Sochi - and this was mutual satisfaction. And we absolutely ceased to be satisfied after the offensive actions of militants and terrorist groups in relation to the Syrian armed forces and Russian military objects began,” Peskov said that “contacts with the Turkish side will continue at the most different levels.”

He did not answer the question of whether the revision of the previously reached agreements of Moscow and Ankara on Syria was possible to find a compromise. According to him, there are no specific plans for the telephone conversation of the presidents of Russia and Turkey in connection with the situation in Syria yet, but if necessary it can be agreed literally in the hours.

Erdogan on February 12 accused Damascus and Moscow of disrupting the agreement to resolve the situation in Idlib. According to him, the troops of Syria President Bashar al -Assad and the existing Russian military attack local residents in the province. The Russian Ministry of Defense rejected the accusations of the Turkish side, emphasizing that it was Türkiye that does not fulfill its promises.
