North-West: more than 100 cases of human rights violations did not investigate in 2019

The initiative group "Equality. Dignity. Pride" published a report on violations of human rights in the Barents region, which unites the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions, Karelia, Komi and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In 2019, human rights activists noted more than one hundred cases of violations that were left without attention from law enforcement agencies and systems of authorized human rights.

The Arkhangelsk Region and the Republic of Komi became environmental rights. Most of the violations are liabilities with repressions against Shies activists. Many of them were subjected to administrative and criminal prosecution. Human rights activists identified repressions against activist Andrei Khristoforov, who was forced to leave Russia.

In 2019, as human rights activists noted, an article on "disrespect for power" began to be applied against active citizens. Four activists of Shies were fined. In Arkhangelsk, the coordinator of the staff of the politician Alexei Navalny Andrei Borovikov was convicted for participating in protest promotions. He was sentenced to compulsory work. Representatives of the community LGBT were also discriminated.
