Berlinale begins

Today, February 20, the 70th Berlin International Film Festival opens.

This year, instead of Dieter Kosslik, who has been the post of director of Berlinale for almost 20 years, the festival was first leaded by Mariette Rissenbek, the ex-head of the company German Films , and Carlo Shatrian, who was previously the director of the film festival in Locarno, reports TASS . According to the Minister of Culture of Germany, Monica Grutters, in the future the festival will maintain orientation towards the viewer and political bias, but at the same time will become younger and more open for experiments.

342 films participate in the anniversary Berlin. The main awards of the festival are claimed by 18 paintings by the main competitive program created by filmmakers from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Iran, Italy, Cambodia, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, the USA, Taiwan, Ukraine, France, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, South Korea (Siberia) ( Siberia ) Abel Ferrarara, “Salt of Tears” ( Le Sel Des Larmes ) of Philip Garrel and “Dau. Films of Russian directors will be presented in other festival programs. In addition, Berlinale Special is attended by the Ukrainian film “Numbers” by Oleg Sentsov and Akhtem Seitablaev - a film adaptation of the Sentsov play of the same name , and the film of Ukrainian director Irina Tsilyk “The Earth Like an Orange”, which recently received a prize at the SUNDANCE festival, is in the Generation 14 PLUS program.

The 70th Berlin International Film Festival will last until March 1, the awarding ceremony of the winners, which will be announced by the international jury, led by the British actor Jeremy Irons, will be held on February 29.
