Pskov: Deputies left the session after refusing to discuss a decrease in the retirement age

Six deputies of the Pskov district left the session on February 20 due to the fact that the representatives of United Russia did not allow the Communists to be discussed on the Communist bill on a decrease in the retirement age, the correspondent of North. Realia reports.

Representatives of the Communist Party, LDPR, Yabloko and Just Russia left the session. The meeting was broken, since there was not enough quorum to make decisions: 11 out of 17 deputies remained in the hall.

In an explanatory note to the bill, the Communist Party deputies wrote that raising the retirement age in Russia was an error, and the problems of the deficit and financing of the pension fund can be solved in a different way. One of the options they called the fight against unofficial employment and emphasized that the country's population opens against a new retirement age.

"We demanded that our bill be included in the agenda with a request to the regional assembly (and then to the State Duma) on amending the law on retirement age. Return the deadlines for retirement - women at 55 years old, at 60 years old. But the head of the neophytes [Chairman of the Assembly Andrei Neofitov], even violating the regulations, really and unraveled. So that this issue is not included in the agenda.

“Our voter is against pension reform, he is for a decrease in retirement age, the whole world is going along this path, so we supported the Communists. We would also like to turn to the leadership of United Russia, to Andrei Turchak, and say that such actions of his party members are unacceptable,” said Valery Koltakov deputy from the LDPR.

“Pension reform is, of course, the story that has taken place, but if we are silent further, the authorities will finally sit on the neck,” Dmitry Baranov, a deputy from Yabloko.

Pension reform in Russia started in 2019. The retirement age will increase in stages until it reaches in 2028 65 years for men and 60 years for women. This is five years more than it was before the changes.
