An Omsk resident who kneeled a child on buckwheat received 4.5 years in prison

The Omsk District Court sentenced programmer Sergei Kazakov and his girlfriend Alina Yumasheva in the case of child abuse, reports . the regional department of the Investigative Committee

According to investigators, as punishment, Kazakov placed Yumasheva’s eight-year-old son on buckwheat with his knees and forced him to stand there for up to nine hours straight. “The boy’s mother was aware of the events, but did not intervene in the situation, approved of her husband’s actions and did not care about her son,” the report says.

The child could not stand it and ran to his neighbor in the country to talk about the bullying. He contacted the police. The boy was taken to the hospital, “he needed surgery.” According to the Investigative Committee, Kazakov also “repeatedly” beat the child.

A criminal case was opened against Kazakov and Yumasheva under points “d”, “e” and “e” of Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code (torture) and points “c” and “g” of Part 2 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of moderate harm to health) . The boy's mother was also charged with failure to fulfill the duties of raising a minor (Article 156 of the Criminal Code).

The court sentenced Kazakov to four and a half years in prison, Yumasheva was sentenced to one and a half years in prison.
