The Ministry of Health of the Perm Territory announced that there were no violations in the actions of the doctor about whom an HIV-positive local resident complained, the head of the department Oksana Melekhova reported on Instagram.
“During the inspection, no facts of violation of medical ethics or disclosure of medical confidentiality were found in the doctor’s actions. In addition, it should be noted that the patient is currently provided with the necessary medications,” the message says.
As reports 59.ru with reference to Anna Kargapoltseva, a member of the Perm Public Monitoring Commission and the head of the “Choice” organization, the Ministry of Health did not contact the patient himself. “There was no independent review, the doctors only listened to the doctors’ opinions,” she said.
Earlier, Kargapoltseva said that the clinic in the village of Nyrob refused to accept an HIV-positive prisoner who had been released from a penal colony. “We don’t accept such patients here. Leave the office,” the man reported the doctor’s words. He added that the doctor continued to discuss his diagnosis in the corridor of the clinic. “What difference does it make to me that he doesn’t have therapy, I guess it’s my fault. Let him die,” the patient recounted the doctor’s words.
After this, Kargapoltseva reported threats against her. A man who introduced himself as an assistant to Governor Dmitry Makhonin called her and began to threaten her with violence. According to Kargapoltseva, the anonymous person told her “Fuck you, scum, wait, I’ll come, I’ll deal with you.”
