"A glass of wine - and everything will pass"

Italy per day became the hearth of the Chinese coronavirus: what is happening there? Russian monologue for "Gromadsky"

Coronavirus? This is not all about us, it is far away in China, and there simply cannot happen to us here here. It seems that this is how the residents and authorities of the Northern Italian region of the Lombardy thought, or rather, one of his provinces - Lod, where I live. However, on Friday, February 21, in the morning it turned out that the pawnshop and Lodi became an epicenter of the outbreak of coronavirus in Italy.

There is a sequel
In this bomb - 320 million people. The Chinese are afraid of a new wave of the epidemic, and in the world, hostility to the inhabitants of Asia is strengthened in the world

The first patient was a 38-year-old man named Mattia from the city of Kodono, 20 kilometers from Lody. Its history is a vivid example of how local authorities and medical structures were not ready for such a development of events. The guy became bad a week ago, he had a high temperature for several days and all the signs of the flu, which, like every year during this period, “mows” the whole country. He came to the hospital, to the ambulance department, as is usually done in Italy.

However, Mattia was sent home, assuring that he had ordinary flu.

A few days later, his condition worsened: in addition to the high temperature, which was held and did not get down, breathing problems appeared. He returned to the hospital, where he finally made all the tests that confirmed a disappointing diagnosis. In critical condition, Mattia was transferred to intensive care, where he is still located. Doctors fight for his life.

The unpreparedness for such a development of events is also evidenced by the fact that the medical personnel on the first day did not even have enough masks-doctors and nurses worked with the patient without any protection. Result? Three doctors have a coronavirus, tests found tests. Like the wife of Mattia, who is now in the eighth month of pregnancy. It was immediately put in the infectious department of one of the hospitals in Milan.

After that, they began to look for the people with whom the young man contacted. It turned out that he led a very active lifestyle: he was a manager of a large chemical company, in which more than 500 people work in Kodono, played sports, participated in marathons, played football, was a volunteer of the Red Cross and led courses.

Until recently, it was believed that he was infected in late January, after dinner with his friend, who had just returned from China then. This was the only version of infection. But after all the tests and analyzes, it turned out that his friend is absolutely healthy. That is, to find, isolate and determine the circle of human dating from which the epidemic of the so -called “patient 0” began, became impossible. And this means the inability to stop the spread of the disease.

72 hours after the first coronavirus, more than 90 patients were found in the Lombardy region. Of course, not because the virus began to be transmitted instantly. But because they began to make tests, identify those who have already got sick before. Many believed that they were at home with ordinary flu, or had no symptoms at all. After some time, patients with coronavirus were also found in the neighboring northern regions-Veneto, Piedmont and Emilia Romania.

We must pay tribute to Italian authorities - it began to react, and react quite efficiently. Ten settlements of the province of Lody, where the first and most powerful outbreak of the disease was recorded, are currently completely isolated. Schools, bars and shops are closed, the armed forces and police are patrolled, who do not allow the inhabitants of these cities to leave their homes. That is, they can move only within their cities. The city of Lodi itself has not yet been quarantined, but all educational institutions are closed, the celebration of the carnival, all matches, concerts and representations have been canceled. People are called not to gather in closed crowded rooms.

We follow the clock

On television, every hour is spinning elementary rules on how to prevent defeat by the virus: constantly wash your hands, do not touch your hands while staying on the street mouth, eyes and nose, cover your face when you sneeze or cough. Employers sent messages to employees so that they would not come to jobs if they live in isolated areas or have been in them over the past 30 days. It is forbidden to come to work for those who have ordinary runny nose, even without temperature. It is difficult to imagine how this will be performed, because in Italy a runny nose during this period has almost everyone.

Railway workers have already reported that trains and trains would not stop at the stations of isolated cities. On Sunday, February 23, it became known that all dental offices in the city of Lody and Province will be closed with the exception of emergency dental care.

When suspicious symptoms appear, citizens are asked not to go on their own to the ambulance department, but to call free numbers so that they can send a brigade to their home.

The problem is that about 70% of the inhabitants of these settlements operate in Milan - the regional center of the Lombardy region. There they used electric trains, metro, trolleybuses and trams, that is, they contacted a huge number of people. It is clear that it is simply unrealistic to check everyone and make a coronavirus test for everyone.

How does society react to danger? Despite the fact that in supermarkets they dared food from the shelves, there is no panic. Lodi and the province are a little more than 300 thousand people. And almost everyone is somehow familiar with each other, because the most kindergartens, schools, lyceums, several faculties of Milan State University are located in Lody. Someone studied with someone together, went to the kindergarten, in sports sections, worked and the like. Although the media did not report the name of the person from which the epidemic began, literally an hour later everyone knew who he was, and who his wife was. Before going on maternity leave in October last year, she worked as a physical education teacher in one of the secondary schools in Lodi.

No one blames the family, on the contrary, from everywhere “Forza, Mattia” (Come on, Mattia!) And the wishes of a speedy recovery sounds from everywhere.

But, of course, fear and caution are present. In two days, the number of people on the streets of Lody has been very noticeably reduced. Occasionally cars pass, people who walk on foot are almost not visible. Masks, antibacterial gels and napkins disappeared from the shelves of shops and pharmacies, it is simply impossible to find them. In pharmacies they say that they cannot order them - the warehouses are empty, and manufacturers cannot cope with the increase in demand.

Private entrepreneurs, owners of bars, cafes and restaurants in despair, they suffer very tangible losses. After all, now the last thing people are doing is to go in a crowded place in coffee.

But, despite this, there is a certain optimism and endless Italian humor. Dozens of memes are distributed on social networks, in which Italians laugh kindly at themselves and their fears: “Un bicchiere di vino e passerà” (“The glass of wine-and everything will pass”) . It will definitely pass. That is how everything will be.
