Another protest participant in Ingushetia was sentenced to a real prison term

The Zheleznovodsk City Court of the Stavropol Territory sentenced Ibragim Dugiyev, a participant in protests against changing the borders between Chechnya and Ingushetia, to a year and two months in a colony-settlement. This was reported to OVD-Info in the press service of "Memorial".

The man was found guilty of using violence that is not dangerous to health to a police officer (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). Previously, he was accused under the more difficult part of this article - the use of violence dangerous to health and life against a police officer (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). In September 2019, in connection with the mitigation of the charge, the court transferred Dugiev to house arrest. Before that, he spent about six months in jail.

The activist stated that he hit the National Guard officer under the influence of emotions, as he feared that the security forces would beat the elderly people who were on the square. Dugiev is the eighteenth defendant in the case of protests in Ingushetia, who was convicted.

In a conversation with MBKh Media, lawyer Visit Tsoroev noted that the political motive was removed from the verdict. According to the court order, Dugiev is not connected with the organizers of the protests and acted independently.

In it, according to the Human Rights Center "Memorial", about 40 defendants, at least 29 defendants are in custody.
