Two more participants of the rally in Ingushetia were sentenced to real terms

The Zheleznovodsk City Court of Stavropol found Amir Oskanov and Ruslan Dzeytov guilty of using violence against a government official (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) during a rally due to an agreement to change the administrative borders of Chechnya and Ingushetia. This was reported to Novaya Gazeta by the human rights center Memorial.

Oskanov was sentenced to a year and 11 months in a colony-settlement for throwing a chair and a bottle, but, as he claimed , did not hit anyone. Dzeitov received a year and nine months in a colony-settlement for kicking a National Guard officer. He explained that he did it to protect the protesting women and the elderly. The court took into account that both defendants partially admitted their guilt.

Memorial notes that, taking into account the time spent in the pre-trial detention center, Oskanov will be released at the end of March.

In the fall of 2018, Chechnya and Ingushetia signed an agreement on changing the administrative borders. After that, protests began in Ingushetia, which resumed in the spring of 2019. At the end of March, after an agreed-upon rally in Magas, clashes broke out between police and protesters. More than ten people received real terms for the use of violence against a representative of the authorities.
