A prototype Starship missile, which Ilona Mask SpaceX is developing for interplanetary flights, exploded during testing at the Boka-Chika training ground in Texas.
During boost with liquid nitrogen, the lower part of the rocket burst, its fragments scattered several tens of meters. There is no data on the victims or destruction. Tests were broadcast live.
The tests are at the very early stage, and “there is nothing to worry about,” wrote Michael Baylor, the author of the Next Spaceflight project dedicated to launches of missiles on Twizer . The developers of the rocket, he added, will make the necessary conclusions from what happened.
