Iranian authorities reported 43 deaths from coronavirus. Almost 600 people are infected

As of February 29, 43 people have died in Iran from pneumonia caused by the coronavirus, Reuters reports, citing a statement by representatives of the Iranian Ministry of Health.

Over the past day, nine deaths and 205 confirmed cases of infection have been recorded. In total, according to representatives of the Iranian Ministry of Health, 593 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in the country.

Among those infected with the coronavirus, the Deputy Minister of Health of Iran and five MPs, one of whom, according to local media, died.

In turn, BBC Persian, citing sources close to the Iranian Ministry of Health, reports that there may be significantly more deaths from coronavirus than officially announced - at least 210 people, as of February 28.

• In terms of the number of deaths from coronavirus, Iran ranks second after China, where, as of the morning of February 29, 2923 died.
• Due to the coronavirus in Iran, schools and higher educational institutions are temporarily closed, mass events are cancelled.
• Russia has restricted air communication with Iran and closed the entry of citizens of this country into its territory.
