Erdogan, during a conversation with Putin, asked that Russia not interfere with Turkish troops in Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he asked Russia not to interfere with the actions of the Turkish military in Syria.

Russia, according to Erdogan, should leave the Turkish military "one on one with the regime" of Bashar al-Assad. “We don’t understand what Russian intentions are there,” Erdogan said, recounting the content of a telephone conversation with Putin.

Erdogan spoke about negotiations with Putin at a meeting with deputies of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Istanbul, according to the Turkish edition of the Daily Sabah.

The Kremlin previously reported that Putin and Erdogan had a telephone conversation on Feb. 28, but did not disclose details other than that the leaders of the two countries agreed to hold a meeting to discuss the situation in Idlib.
